The workshop will focus on refining and understanding the use of light applied to the environmental portrait, with particular attention to light's ability to reveal character, context and the relationship between subject and space. Combining both technical and poetic approaches, Verzone will guide the 15 participants through the practical and narrative fields of lighting, alternating theoretical moments with field sessions to experiment directly with the techniques learned.

Each participant will thus have the opportunity to develop their own visual language, learning to read light not only as a technical tool, but also as a narrative element capable of giving depth to the portrait. The programme focuses on practical shooting exercises carried out in unique locations around Turin, with the aim of working with different lighting techniques and learning to use different light sources (natural light, flash, continuous light). All participants will have the opportunity to discuss their own work in group sessions.

The workshop is also grounded in a solid theoretical foundation: not only photography, but other forms of visual expression, such as cinema and painting, will be discussed. The aim is to understand and use light not only as a tool, but also as a language, rich in meaning, rhetoric and poetry.

Learning to work with light means learning to reckon with time, with its absence, with context and landscape, with unforeseen obstacles and fleeting opportunities. Light is a constant in photography, but it never shows itself in the same way twice.

Two prestigious and unique locations will be at the heart of the group's work:

• the Società Canottieri Armida, founded in 1869, will be the workshop's starting point: its position overlooking the Po and the historic charm it holds make it the natural setting to welcome participants. Within its walls, steeped in sporting tradition and civic memory, there is a unique atmosphere well suited to kicking off the work.

• the Museo del Cinema di Torino, with the possibility of organising a session inside the striking Mole Antonelliana, the city's undisputed symbol and a location of rare architectural beauty.

These two places, deeply tied to Turin through history and identity, will be the beating heart of the work, which will then be developed and carried further through the city's streets and spaces, in a journey that weaves the workshop into Turin's urban and cultural fabric.
